Evolve Your Wellness Habits
As life unfolds, I’ve learned that wellness isn’t just a destination—it’s a dynamic journey that requires constant adjustments.
At 61 years young, I’ve had to continually evolve my routines to meet my body’s changing needs. The secret to staying youthful? Flexibility and a willingness to listen to what my body is truly asking for. Whether it’s fine-tuning my nutrition, shifting my exercise routines, or prioritizing mindfulness, I’ve found that what served me a decade ago doesn’t necessarily serve me now.
One concept that has reshaped my perspective on aging is the distinction between chronological age and biological age. While chronological age is the number of years you’ve lived, biological age reflects the true state of your body’s health: how old your cells and systems really are. It’s a measure of vitality that can sometimes be years (even decades) younger or older than your chronological age. Personally, I’ve been aiming to shave off up to 15 years from my biological age, and the journey has been incredibly rewarding.
Dr. Christiane Northrup once said, “Getting older is inevitable, aging is optional.”
This idea resonates deeply with me, because it reminds us that we have more control over our aging process than we might think. Factors like sleep quality, stress management, nutrition, and exercise all play a crucial role in how we age biologically. By regularly testing, monitoring my body’s key markers, and making proactive adjustments, I’ve experienced firsthand how we can slow the aging process and elevate our vitality.
Maintaining a youthful biological age is about more than just extending life—it’s about infusing each day with energy, clarity, and purpose. Whether it’s through functional medicine, mindfulness, or biohacking practices, taking control of our wellness can profoundly impact both how we feel today and how we age in the years to come.
Let’s embrace this holistic approach to wellness, continually optimize our health, and choose to age on our own terms—strong, vibrant, and thriving. Remember, it’s not about the years in your life, but the life in your years.
How have you adapted your wellness habits over the years? I’d love to hear your journey.
To your vitality,
Lizanne
